East Fork effort is experiential education through riparian restoration


On Friday, about 30 students joined the Bitter Root Water Forum to learn about the importance of riparian plantings and get their hands dirty installing plants.

Students from the Classroom without Walls programs in both Hamilton and Corvallis high schools, along with students from the Darby High School Environmental Science class, lent a hand. The place-based education opportunity allowed students to take ownership in a project that will benefit the Bitterroot for generations to come.

Some students even documented their learning experience by taking pictures to use as an opportunity to teach others about what they learned.
