Doran Creek - Revegetation

Location

Doran Creek, French’s Basin, East Fork Subbasin near Sula

Goals

Lower hazardous water temperature of Doran Creek by creating shade with a healthy riparian habitat.

Reasoning

Temperature pollutions degrades habitat for insects and fish, ultimately disrupting the whole ecosystem and the fisheries we love to enjoy. Doran Creek, a tributary to Cameron Creek, lacks healthy streamside vegetation to provide shade and became dangerously warm.

Project Description

  • The Water Forum and 20 volunteers harvested and planted 2,000 willows along a 2,750 foot stretch of Doran Creek

  • Improving water quality in Doran Creek will amplify the success of downstream efforts on Cameron Creek and the East Fork.
